Christoph Ulrich Meier wurde 1968 in Ulm geboren. Noch während seines Dirigierstudiums an der Musikhochschule Würzburg wurde er 1990 als Solorepetitor und Kapellmeister am Landestheater Coburg engagiert. Nach einer Spielzeit an den Städtischen Bühnen Münster wurde er 1993 Assistent von Daniel Barenboim and der Staatsoper Unter den Linden, wo er Konzerte mit der Staatskapelle sowie Mozarts "Zauberflöte" dirigierte. Hier war er außerdem Assistent von Zubin Mehta und Claudio Abbado bei "Aida" und "Falstaff".

Seit 1992 ist Christoph Ulrich Meier musikalischer Assistent und Studienleiter bei den Bayreuther Festspielen, wo er mit Daniel Barenboim, Giuseppe Sinopoli und Christian Thielemann zusammenarbeitete. 2005 war er hier Cover für den "Tristan"-Dirigenten Eiji Oue.
Gastdirigate führten ihn an die Deutsche Oper Berlin, die Oper Frankfurt am Main und das Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz ("Hänsel und Gretel", "Zauberflöte", "Don Giovanni" und "Cosi fan tutte"). Am Grand Théatre de Tours leitete er eine Neuproduktion von "Cosi fan tutte" sowie Sinfoniekonzerte (u.a. Beethovens "Eroica", Schuberts 9. Sinfonie und "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" von Gustav Mahler).

An der Opéra Nantes dirigierte er eine Neuproduktion von Nicolais "Lustige Weiber von Windsor". Konzertprogramme mit Werken von Richard Wagner führten ihn zum Nagoya Symphony Orchestra nach Japan und ans Teatro la Fenice Venezia.
Als Liedbegleiter trat er u.a. mit Waltraud Meier, Peter Schreier und Mihoko Fujimura auf, mit Soloprogrammen (Bachs "Wohltemperiertes Klavier", Beethovens "Diabelli-Variationen") war er an der Staatsoper Unter den Linden zu hören.
Seit 2001 ist Christoph Ulrich Meier Professor an der Hochschule für Musik Detmold, wo er die Opernschule leitet.

Christoph Ulrich Meier was born in Ulm, Germany, in 1968. While studying at the Würzburg academy of Music to become a conductor, he was engaged as solo-repetiteur and capellmeister at the Landestheater in Coburg. After a season at the Municipal Stages in Münster, he became assistant of Daniel Barenboim at the State Opera "Unter den Linden" in Berlin in 1993. Here, he conducted concerts with the State Orchestra as well as "The Magic Flute" by Mozart. In addition, he was assistent of Zubin Mehta and Claudio Abbado with their productions of "Aida" and "Falstaff" at the State Opera "Unter den Linden".

In 1992, Christoph Meier became musical assistant and director of studies at the Bayreuth Festival where he cooperated with Daniel Barenbiom, Giuseppe Sinopoli and Christian Thielemann. In 2005 he also acted as a "cover" for the Tristan conductor, Eiji Oue.
Furthermore, he worked as a guest conductor at the Deutsche Opera in Berlin, the Frankfurt/M. Opera and the State Theatre at the Gärtnerplatz for the performances of "Hänsel and Gretel", "Zauberflöte", "Don Giovanni" and "Cosi fan tutte". At the Grand Theatre de Tours, he directed a new production of "Cosi fan tutte" and symphony concerts, such as Beethoven's Eroica, Schubert's 9th symphony and "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" by Gustav Mahler.

Equally important, he conducted a new production of Nicolai's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at the Opera Nantes. Concert programs with works of Richard Wagner led him to the Nagoya Symphony Orchestra in Japan and to the Teatro la Fenice Venezia.
As lieder accompanist, he appeared on stage among others with Waltraud Meier, Peter Schreier and Mihoko Fujimura. With solo programs such as Bach's "The Welltempered Piano" and Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations" he performed at the State Opera Unter den Linden.
Since 2001 Christoph Ulrich Meier has been professor at the Detmold Academy for Music where he directs the opera school. For the above reasons, Christoph Meier impresses with his numerous accomplishments and his rich background in the field of music.
